October 06. Final Presensation and Farewell dinner

At the end of the assigment the Limpopo Depatment of Education organized a farewell dinner. Once again we had to present the project outcomes to the audience. Afterward we had a delicious dinner....

From September 13. we had some weekend activities such as:
- Playing Basketball


- Visiting the Polokwane Nature Game Reserve



- Visiting the Bakone Malapa Open Air Museum





- Visiting the Sangoma and the King Ngosi Kgabo Moloto III's




- Donations to schools





- Visiting the Kruger National Park






From September 13. Daily working activities such as...

Together with PB from India, Carolyn from canada, Roland from China, I had to spend the next 4 weeks, working on the ICT Strategy for the Limpopo Department of Education.

Rosaline and Georges were additional resources from the IT Department that we needed for the implementation of the proof of concept.

Our Daily working included activities such as:   - Inverview of the Stakeholders
- Visiting some schools and running assessments...



- Assessment of the IT environment (Strong Rooms for the school lab....)


- Meeting with the Professional Development Sub-Team

 - Assessment of the current IT Infrastructure in Schools...


 - Kid-Smart Monitoring

- ICT Strategy planning and documentation

 - Project Status Report to the General Manager

September 12. Goal of the assignment and first working day with the client

The goal of the assignment was to:
 "To provide assessment and recommendations on an ICT strategy for the education department in Limpopo. This should include  short, medium and long-term plans on, for example, technology infrastructure, school information (management) systems, hosting curriculum materials, home-school communication systems, eLearning, professional networks/teacher collaboration, IT support requirements etc. "

September 12. was supposed to be the first working day at the client site but we could not because of logistic issues. Thus we had to work from the hotel.....


In the the evening we had the official "Wellcome Dinner" organized by the Limpopo Department of Education.

September 11. First informal contact with the client.

September 11. After travelling from Johannesburg to Polokwane, each sub-team met at that Sunday evening with its client. My Team had the first contact with the representative of Limpopo Department of Education  Mr. Seroka. The meeting was held at the Massana Lodge.

Visit to the Maropeng museum in Johannesburg

September 10 after the meeting with IBM Exceutives we visited the  Maropeng museum. That is the centre for The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage....
In the evening my team (South Africa 8 Team) was invited by my sister Marie to have a drink at her residence.

Arrival in Johannesburg

As soon as we arrived in Johannesburg, the team went to the Lion-Park where we enjoyed the stay with some animals.The  Lion-Park is home to more than 85 lions including the rare white lions, and many other carnivores such as cheetah, wild dog and various hyena species.......


The on satuday morning the 11.09, the team had a meeting at the IBM Location in SA with the IBM Country General Manager Oliver Fortuin and some of the SA executives like the Governmental Programmes Executive and the Marketing and Communications Executive.
